HORSES TO WATCH
RACE 4: JEDEDIAH First time starter rated in 7th to the turn, entered the stretch widest of all and kicked them down to win very impressively.
RACE 12: DREAM IN SILVER broke out of the pack entering the far turn, opened up a clear lead and widened at will down the lane. That was as impressive a win from a first timer as you will see in a $15,000 maiden claimer. The others were in another area code.

#1 SOCKET held the early lead, was headed briefly down the backstretch by #5 BRAZILIONAIRE, drew clear into the stretch then was tested severely in the final 70 yards. #9 SPANTASTIC far back early, rallied between horses in the drive, got a head in front in deep stretch but couldn't hold it. #7 CHOCOLATE SOLDIER also near the back early, rallied on the far outside and had a shot at the win in deep stretch.

ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:
RACE 12
2 UNLIMITED GITGO
Son of Easyfromthegitgo has trained steadily for Asmussen, who rarely asks his youngsters for speed in the morning. A half to four winners and debuts on Lasix. Asmussen wins with 26% of his debuting maiden claimers.
4 PLACID STREAM
Gelding gets a needed drop into claiming company after being in over his head in all three starts. He is working forwardly for Ducoing and could come up big in his 2nd start back from a 5-month layoff. Not much here to beat. Hernandez up.
7 NIX STAR
Sharp early speed in his Nov. 29 race but did not show it last time. He hit the board in 3 of his last 4, good enough to make him a contender in this woeful field. Switches to hot rider Eddie MartN.
8 TAFFY’S TROUBLE
Brief speed from the rail in his sloppy track debut against MSW colts. Will look completely different in this context. Trainer Michelle Lovell wins at a big 35% clip with maidens making their 1st start for a claiming tag. Graham has been getting live mounts from this barn.

#4 MIRAJ has taken a lot of early betting action. He was 12-1 on the line and is now 3-1 with 9 minutes to post.
TRIP NOTES RACE TEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, February 06, 2010
#2 FAST ALEX rated in 4th along the inside, got a lane on the rail as they straightened out in the lane, outdueled his rivals and edged clear. #1A ELKHORN CREEK pressed the early leader from the two-path, continued gamely to outfinish #8 BERBERIS for 2nd. BERBERIS stalked in 3rd, made a menacing 3-wide move on the turn but lost his punch in the drive.

ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:
RACE 11
1 SOCKET
Has improved steadily in each of his four starts this season. He comes off a gate to wire win over maidens, easily his best race. He was loose on a slow pace, a situation that often produces an optimum performance. He does not need the lead.
4 MIRAJ
With two sprints since returning from a 10-month layoff he should be set to stretch out. Both of those were even efforts in which he was not abused. He enters off a very sharp half-mile breeze and reunites with James Graham. Chance to light up the board.
6 KERWIN’S WAY
Chased a runaway winner home in the slop, a nice try in his first start since the move to Keith Bourgeois. The Skip Away gelding could continue improving now that he is in a high % barn. In light with Anna Roberts retaining the mount.
10 ROUTE
5yo has been a turf specialist, but there are not many turf races carded at this level. The son of Dynaformer hit the board recently against $25K and $30K maidens. If he takes to the course he is plenty good enough to win it.
