(# 10) CHACAHOULA CHOICE Got the tightener that he needed on Jan. 7 then turned in a fine effort that was even better than it appears. After breaking awkwardly he was forced to chase the pacesetter from the start. He was steadied several times along the rail while full of run. Swung wide into the stretch to go after the leader, but could only hold 2nd in a game effort. Like him despite the outside post. Tries a rider switch from Bourque to Castanon. (# 11) SANTONIO Late running 4yo raced last, far off the pace as usual. He made up ground into the stretch, then came home quickest of them all for 3rd. He finished just a length behind Chacahoula Choice. Fires every time and should get an honest pace to rally into. The rider switch from D Meche to Graham may help. (# 7) FLICKERING WORLD Rebounded from a dull effort to score a booming win over basement non-winners twice. He also looked good finishing a close 3rd three starts back. Sam Breaux has brought the late blooming 4yo along nicely and he is likely to hold that good form. Came from far back in that last win but also has some tactical speed. (# 2) MY GOLD Had been in decent form but really put it together last time out in the slop. He set a strong pace, put away his pace rivals and drew clear. That was easily his career best. He had not moved up in the mud before, so that race did not appear to be wet track aided. Not sure he can put two of those together, but if he can he will be hard to beat. (# 6) FIVE STAR SECRET Has shown improvement in his last 2 starts stretching out to today’s mile distance. Tactical speed to sit a good trip. Gets weight from all with bug boy up.
