*** RACE TWO ANALYSIS ***
by The Wizard on Saturday, March 21, 2009
(# 10) DOLLAR COTTON Finally got the class drop and distance switch that she needed after being in over her head sprinting in her first 5 starts. Last out she stalked the leader from the start, sat a perfect inside-out trip but was just not good enough. She was 11 lengths clear of the pack with a figure good enough to win most races at this level. Looks like a short price here. (# 13) ROBIN TONE Obscurely bred filly finished with good energy in each of her two sprints for Wes Hawley. She acts as if she will relish a route of ground and those two sprints were clearly in preparation to stretch out. Hawley has positive stats with first time two turners. Nearly black filly has a big shot at the upset if she is able to draw in. (# 11) HOLY JOSY With two sprints under her belt this Leestown filly ran well enough to win when stretched out to a mile last time. She put her pace rivals away with blazing fractions, opened a clear lead in the lane but could not hold off the winner who closed from off the pace. She was the only one of the pacesetters to finish in the top 4. (# 1) AFTERNOON GIRL Failed to fire when favored over some of these in the slop. She was in tight quarters late and was elevated to 4th via DQ. Chance to rebound on a fast track for the hot Asmussen outfit. She was well bet but did not show much against tougher fillies in her first two. (# 7) FAST CITY GIRL Appears the one to catch stretching out to 2 turns. Even so, she has shown that when confronted in the stretch, she backs down and tired badly. This barn very good with horses going sprint to a route.
