From my vantage point, I don't feel how crowded it is, but when I get to the paddock it's flooded with people. Fans are at least five deep along the rail to get a glimpse of the horses. His highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, is here. (He owns Regal Ransom and Desert Party). I heard he will be interviewd on ESPN. Maybe I will be standing next to him. If so, I will ask him for a loan or free heating oil for next winter. You can feel the excitement in the air.
