RACE FOUR TRIPS
by The Wizard on Saturday, May 09, 2009
(7) FRANCES SLAM - Settled off a 4-way battle for the early lead, was forced to steady when trying to split rivals on the turn, moved outside for a bid into the stretch between runners, and then closed best of all to win going away. (2) PALM BREEZE - Moved in tandem while outside the winner around the far turn and into the lane, was unable to keep pace with that rival in the stretch, and then finished willingly outside of runners to get second. (6) SAVY’S DELITE - trailed the field early, continued to be outrun into the stretch, and then made up ground belatedly between rivals without threatening the top pair. (1) RAVIN MANIAC - part of a four-horse speed duel for the lead down the backstretch, continued along the inside around the far turn, and then had nothing left for the drive.
