(9) ORTHODOX - Impeded at the break by the third-place finisher Turfiste, recovered nicely to go after the pacesetter heading into the first turn. He continued to track that rival until midstretch, eventually putting that him away and holding safe the eventual second-place finisher, Battle Of Hastings. (3) BATTLE OF HASTINGS - raced without incident in the second flight down the backstretch, and launched his bid leaving the far turn. He continued to move closer in the stretch, but was unable to overhaul the winner. (7) TURFISTE - sent to the lead after veering out badly to his to bother Orthodox, and was then allowed to set a controlled pace on the lead. He responded willingly when headed by the winner past midstretch, and then tired slowly late while holding on to the show. (1) STORMALORY - a bit rank while under a firm hold towards the inside early on, began his bid along the inside down the backstretch. He was then forced to ‘take up’ and/or stumbled badly, forcing him to check severely was taken out of the race as a result.
