RACE ELEVEN OBSERVATIONS
2-1 winner BEAR'S MARIE shot right out to the lead and wired the field holding off TRUE BLUE EYES who sat in mid pack then rallied wide to be a clear second. SUN VALLEY STORM out finished SHROUD who had every chance in the stretch to get third.

NOTE: CHARMING RIDGE WHO WENT OFF AT 9-1, REFUSED TO BREAK FROM THE GATE FOR THE THIRD TIME IN FIVE CAREER STARTS. IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE BETTING PUBLIC IF THEY ALLOW THIS HORSE TO START AGAIN UNLESS SHE RUNS FOR PURSE MONEY ONLY OR SHOWS A SERIES OF MORNING GATE WORKS WHERE SHE BREAKS CLEANLY. I WOULD GIVE HER ONE MORE SHOT IF CHARMING RIDGE CAN DO THIS. IF NOT, SHE SHOULD BE RETIRED.
FOLLOWING RACE ELEVEN OBSERVATIONS, I WILL PROVIDE A HORSES TO WATCH LIST, FINAL TRACK BIAS, AND OTHER INFO
*** RACE ELEVEN ANALYSIS ***
(# 1) SHROUD Claimed from her debut for $25,000 by Cody Autrey. In her first for Autrey she made a menacing 4-wide middle move but faded in the lane. She is well drawn on the rail today and will definitely appreciate the class drop. Shot at the upset for top connections. (# 9) TRUE BLUE EYES Stalked the pace from the outside and held on for a distant 4th against tougher. She had Shroud behind her at the wire. That was her best race yet and a much improved work on Feb. 27 bodes well for even better. In light with apprentice Dugas back aboard. (# 3) BEAR’S MARIE Appeared to have a soft field at her mercy last time but finished a distant 3rd at 1-5 odds. Asmussen was hoping for a claim and she was taken by Chad Pitzer. She seems to be going the wrong way and now has a trainer who is winless at the meet. Still, one of her good efforts beats these easily. (# 10) GYPSY CAB COMPANY Malibu Moon filly brought just $5500 as a 2yo but has shown speed in her drills. Carl Bowman has positive stats with first timers and this filly debuts off a near-bullet half mile breeze from the gate. Certainly does not have much to beat here. Jacinto will ride. (# 7) HYPER HANNAH Cuts back to a sprint which I feel she prefers. Gets a big rider change from bug boy to Hernandez.
RACE TEN OBSERVATIONS
Very game win by the 2-1 favorite TIZAQUEENA who rated beautifully on the lead from the start. Shadowed by PRETTY SQUALL to her outside and SHYTOE LAFEET to her inside. Put both away in mid stretch. Came in on the tiring SHYTOE LAFEET at that point under left hand whipping forcing that one into the rail while checking sharply. All out to hold off the fast closing SHARBAT. NANS JOY came on too late to be a closing third. UPON REVIEW OF A STEWARDS INQUIRY AGAINST THE WINNER FOR INTERFERANCE WITH SHYTOE LAFEET, THEY DECIDED TO KEEP THE ORDER AS IS. (I AGREE WITH THEIR DECISION AS THAT ONE WAS TIRING WHEN THE INFRACTION OCCURRED AND IT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL BY THERIOT WHO WAS ABOARD THE WINNER).

THIS WIN GAVE TRAINER MIKE STIDHAM HIS THIRD VICTORY ON THE CARD.

*** RACE TEN ANALYSIS ***
(# 7) TIZAQUEENA Classy daughter of Tiznow has developed nicely for Stidham and seems ready for stakes competition. After a big win in her debut last winter she went to the sidelines after a 2nd place finish in the Tiffany Lass. She came back in top form when she overcame a stumbling start to score nicely in a 1st tier allowance. Stidham tried her on the lawn at the 2nd allowance level and she passed that test with flying colors. Although she has shown the ability to rate Theriot put her on the lead and she never looked back. Her final quarter in :23 4/5 bodes well for further success on the lawn. This up and coming filly can earn her first black type here. (# 6) APLLE MARTINI Late running filly was victimized by slow fractions in the Pago Hop and also in her Jan. 29 allowance. She got the fractions that she needs last time but was rated too far back. Even her :23 1/5 final quarter was not enough. Should get an honest pace this time, just needs the right ride from Graham. (# 8) SHYTOELAFEET Strong allowance win in her first start of the meet then ran great in both of her narrow losses to Stormy West. She was sent off the favorite against several of these last time but failed to punch it in. She could be over the top, but she will more likely bounce back for Larry Jones. (# 9) PRETTY SQUALL is racing in very sharp form at the present. With the late scratches of a couple of speed horses, this mare’s chances move up. Likes this course. Nicks barn going very well this meet.
RACE NINE OBSERVATIONS
5-1 winner MISTER FUSAICHI was tons best. Rated in mid pack wide. Strong acceleration through the stretch to dust this field. Soild effort by new gelding FERENTZ who was taken back to last. Sustained a strong closing rally racing widest throughout. The rest of the field showed little.

NEW GELDING RACE NINE
(# 4) FERENTZ is a 1st time gelding. He is taking quite a bit of money in all pools. With 5 minutes to go he is the 5-2 favorite.
*** RACE NINE ANALYSIS ***
(# 2) GOWDEN MILE His first try on turf was not good, so it was no surprise that his 2nd wasn't good either. In his previous start he stalked early, took the lead on the far turn and held it until he was nailed by King Of Speed at the wire. Like Master Plan, he prefers to lead or race close to slow fractions. The two could fight it out all the way. (# 8) GOLD BELLS SPIN Came to life last time when he nearly rang the bell at 30-1 in a similar spot. 5yo needs frequent breaks, so Carl Bowman gives him two months to reload. This gelding has enough speed to grab an easy lead if the rider wants to. Not sure that he can hold that form for two months with no works. (# 5) MISTER FUSAICHI Makes 1st start for good conditioner. Back on dirt. 2 of 3 wins on the surface. Fit's well in this spot despite stepping up in class. Took a lot of money in the pick 3's. (# 7) GRAND MINIT has 3 of his 5 wins over this course. Has been facing tougher in State Bred competiton. Open company today. Has not won a race since March of 2008. From the very good Al Stall barn. (# 3) BOGOGA is back on dirt. 5 of his 6 wins on this surface. Will be on or near the lead from the start. Even though he took good money in the pick 3's with 16 minutes to go, he appears "icy" on the board at 10-1.
RACE EIGHT OBSERVATIONS
2-5 odds on winner LIGHTLIGHTLIGHT was tons the best. Tired to get out a bit approaching the stretch, but was quickly straightened then just blew by HAZEL GROVE in a dominating performance. Grove was much the best of the rest. Favorites run 1-2 for an $8.20 exacta.
*** RACE EIGHT ANALYSIS ***
(# 8) LIGHTLIGHTLIGHT Earned good figures with in-the-money finishes in her first three starts of the season, two of them stakes. In each instance she finished close behind the very talented Warrior Maid. Her mid-pack finish on the grass last time was decent, but she is much better on dirt. Asmussen has always done well here with the turf to dirt move. Very hard to beat at a short price. (# 1) LIL RICK’S GAL Just blew away a field of basement maiden claimers, an effort that was strengthened when the filly that finished 11 lengths back in 2nd came back to win her next start. Asmussen apparently found the key with this filly and she could be dangerous at a square price. (# 7) HAZEL GROVE Was a neck behind the top pick when she finished 4th in the LA Lassie, her first start against winners. She was also close against some fast fillies in her two subsequent starts. She was virtually eased last time in a failed turf experiment. Contender once again for Ducoing and Torres. (# 3) AKIANE Returns off a long layoff for a trainer who can have them ready. Trainer Glen Delahoussaye having a HUGE meet with a limited number of starters.
RACE SEVEN OBSERVATIONS
8-1 winner CAJOLE sat a perfect trip in 4th while saving ground on both turns. Tipped out at the top of the stretch, hooked LUDMIG in deep stretch then edged clear. LUDWIG was in the same position as the winner, but racing widest. Moved nicely approaching the stretch, driving to a narrow lead in deep stretch but was outfinished. 3-5 favorite ANTRIUM COUNTY sat outside in mid pack. Asked for run at the top of the stretch and responded but only with a one paced rally. Had no punch late when in counted. Disappointing effort.
*** RACE SEVEN ANALYSIS ***
(# 10) ANTRIUM COUNTY Ran a surprisingly big race when jumped into stakes company, finishing a close 3rd last time. He raced just off the leaders and was still there at the wire. He has always seemed a bit better on dirt, but he sure looked good on this turf course that time. He won an amazing 10 of his 15 starts last year. Should beat these at a short price. (# 9) LUDWIG Comes off a game effort in which he lost a head-bobbing decision after dueling every step of the way on a slow pace. May get a similar pace scenario this afternoon. In his first start of the meet he was the winner after also fighting it out through modest fractions. (# 3) MY BALLET Despite being hung out to dry on the first turn he finished a very useful 4th after being off the track for two years. Good chance he can use that effort as a springboard to better. He gets a pivotal rider upgrade from Dugas to Jacinto. Contender at what should be double-digit odds. (# 7) CAJOLE 9yo has not raced on turf very much recently but 5 of his 12 wins came on the lawn. The past classer makes his 2nd start off the claim by Cody Autrey. He comes off a dominating win over a soft field of conditioned claimers. Theriot to Hernandez. (# 8) CAT MAN Back on dirt in 2nd start off the claim. Fast closing 3rd when last seen on the turf. Gets an expected lively pace to close into. Barn is very "live" this meet.
RACE SIX OBSERVATIONS
Solid debut by 11-1 winner ESSENCE OF SPEED who forced the pace between horses from the start. Put away the favorite in mid stretch, then had enough left to hold off 1st timer longshot MAMBO GALLIANO who came up the inside to finish up very well. OSAGE COUNTY passed tired horses late for a no threat 3rd. Clearly an underachiever.
*** MID DAY BIAS UPDATE ***
THE MAIN TRACK IS PLAYING KIND TO EARLY SPEED. THERE IS NO PATH BIAS. NO BIAS THAT I CAN SEE ON THE TURF COURSE.
NEW GELDING AND FRONT BANDAGES ON RACE SIX
(# 3) DIPLOMATIC LOVER adds fronts for the 1st time. (# 8) WINE CLASSIC is a new gelding.
SHOE REPAIR RACE SIX
(# 8) WINE CLASSIC is getting a shoe repair in the paddock.
*** RACE SIX ANALYSIS ***
(# 2) SMILE DOWN ON ME Did not show much in his first three starts, all at the maiden special level, but came to life when dropped into an expensive maiden claimer. That was also his first start with blinkers. He stalked the pace from the beginning and, although unable to threaten the winner, missed by just a length. Another effort like that one would be very hard for these colts to beat. Enters off a strong 5 furlong breeze, indicating that another big race is likely. It will take a hot first time starter to beat him. Jamie Theriot replaces an out of town Albarado. (# 5) FOREST TANGO Forestry colt has not been seen since his debut at Saratoga last summer. He took some betting action but broke slowly and failed to threaten. He returns off four evenly-spaced half mile drills for David Carroll. His most recent was his fastest. Carroll wins with 17% of his returning vacationers. (# 6) ESSENCE OF SPEED Essence Of Dubai colt is a half to three winners and is bred to be quick. He debuts off several fast 5 furlong works for Ed Johnston. His 1:00 3/5 breeze on March 7 was a best-of-35 drill. Gets Lasix for a barn that wins with 19% of their first time starters. (# 7) LONE CYPRESS Makes debut for a good 1st out trainer Al Stall. Shows good steady works over this course. (# 4) OSAGE COUNTY Has had several chances, but should improve dropping into a claimer for the 1st time for trainer Stidham who already has 2 wins on the card.
RACE FIVE OBSERVATIONS
9-5 favorite ROCKURST set a pressured pace from the start. Hooked by PARKER RUN at the top of the stretch, then held that one off the entire stretch in a very gritty performance. EDGERRIN closed for 3rd but was no threat to the top pair as both those old gladiators were clearly best of the rest. This win gave trainer Stidham his 2nd on the day.
*** RACE FIVE ANALYSIS ***
(# 2) ROCKHURST 10yo has apparently found the fountain of youth since moving to the Mike Stidham barn. All three starts for Stidham were strong wins over fields like this. Not sure how long he can keep it up, hut Stidham gives him the 3-4 weeks in between starts that he prefers. With Albarado in NY with Secret Gypsy he is reunited with Lanerie. (# 7) TIMBERAH May have been best when beaten a half-length by Rockhurst two starts back. Last time he finished a close 4th when moved up in class off the Amoss claim. Tough to beat as Amoss drops him back to the level claimed. Was a vet scratch against many of these on Feb. 15 and also Feb. 27. (# 3) PARKER RUN Consistent 8yo needs his races spaced out at this point in his career but only missed the board once in his last 10 starts. He finished one length behind Rockhurst in both starts this season. He had been idle for 8 weeks prior to his last start, so he could improve with recency. (# 3) PARKER RUN Consistent 8yo needs his races spaced out at this point in his career but only missed the board once in his last 10 starts. He finished one length behind Rockhurst in both starts this season. He had been idle for 8 weeks prior to his last start, so he could improve with recency. (# 6) ZETETIC Must respect his speed, espeically taking a smart drop to $20,000 and making 2nd start off a layoff. Gets Bridgemohan who forms a strong rider and trainer combo for Malcom Pierce.
RACE FOUR OBSERVATIONS
Even money favorite LOUISIANA DUDE fought tooth and nail with SKY CREED from the start. Out gammed that stubborn rival in the final stages in a game effort. 2 speed number as no one else could make any impact.
NEW GELDING RACE FOUR
(# 4) FELIX BELFAST is a new gelding.
*** RACE FOUR ANALYSIS ***
(# 3) SKY CREED Scored a strong win two starts back then was in a bit too deep last time. In that win he contested a blazing pace, opened a clear lead in the lane then held on gamely. Last out he tired after a half mile against $15,000 "three lifers". He is the speed of this field and should offer a square price. (# 6) LOUISIANA DUDE Took a lot of betting action and did not disappoint when he simply dusted a soft field. Another like it would be more than good enough to win right back. He was claimed by Keith Bourgeois who brings him back for the same claiming tag. Would like him better if he was raised in class off the big win. (# 9) THIS IS MY TOWN Returned from 7 months on the sidelines to beat a soft "two lifetime" field as the favorite. There is the danger of a bounce, although it is lessened by the four weeks between starts. He is more likely to move forward for Glenn Delahoussaye who has quietly won with 38% of his starters here. (# 7) CAN’TSTOPTHISSSTORM Has not won in quite some time but has been consistently competitive against this kind and better. Previously showed some tactical speed but was rated well off the pace in both starts for jock Dugas. Would benefit if a stiff pace duel should develop
RACE THREE OBSERVATIONS
3-1 winner FIREFROMTHEBAYOU chased loose leader then took over in mid stretch after that one drifted out badly. All out to hold off the fast closing SOUTH LINE who just ran out of ground in a fine turf debut. 1st timer SHIPPING DE TRICKY ran a good 3rd chasing in that position along the inside throughout. The rest showed little.
NEW GELDING RACE THREE
(# 1) RUSTON ROCKET was just listed as a NEW GELDING.
*** RACE THREE ANALYSIS ***
(# 10) JUST CUSH Leestown colt is a half to Cush, one of the starters of the meet. Has been working steadily since November with several bullets on his work tab. On Jan. 30 he looked good breezing 3F in :35 flat from the gate. He enters off a strong 5F move on March 8. Andy Leggio has had a tough meet but he is good with first timers and there is not much to beat here. (# 3) FIREFROMTHEBAYOU Son of Mutakddim is bred for the grass. In his bebut he finished a very decent 4th against MSW colts over this course. His subsequent two tries on dirt were not as sharp. Think he will run another good one with this class drop and switch back to turf. Lanerie is one of the better turf jocks. (# 6) PRODUCTION Grandson of Saint Ballado with some turf in his bloodlines has been well prepared for his debut by Bret Calhoun. Although he has not been asked for speed he debuts off a nice 3F breeze from the gate. Calhoun is always dangerous with a first timer in maiden claiming company. (# 7) SHIPPING DE TRICKY Son of Tricky debuts for Bernie Flint who wins with 16% of his first timers. Works are modest but evenly spaced and he has been in steady training for a long time. Not particularly well bred for the turf, but neither are many of the others. (# 5) DAVY'S PRODUCTION Improvement expected cutting back in distance, back on grass and a drop into maiden claimers for the 1st time. Has tactical speed.
RACE TWO OBSERVATIONS
7-2 winner AFTERNOON GIRL shot right out to the lead from post 1. Fought off several challenges throughout and held gamely over FAST CITY GIRL who ran a big race in 2 turn debut. Broke sharp but was content to take back and race in mid pack. Made a strong wide middle move to loom entering the stretch then continued willingly to the wire. MY HOMETOWN GAL finished well too late after sitting a perfect inside out trip. The rest of the field showed little in a VERY SLOW RACE.
RACE 2: 1ST TIMER WITH FRONT BANDAGES
1st timer (# 2) LONG GONE SALLY who is dead on the board at 20-1, is wearing front bandages and blinkers on for her debut. This is a major negative for me.
*** RACE TWO ANALYSIS ***
(# 10) DOLLAR COTTON Finally got the class drop and distance switch that she needed after being in over her head sprinting in her first 5 starts. Last out she stalked the leader from the start, sat a perfect inside-out trip but was just not good enough. She was 11 lengths clear of the pack with a figure good enough to win most races at this level. Looks like a short price here. (# 13) ROBIN TONE Obscurely bred filly finished with good energy in each of her two sprints for Wes Hawley. She acts as if she will relish a route of ground and those two sprints were clearly in preparation to stretch out. Hawley has positive stats with first time two turners. Nearly black filly has a big shot at the upset if she is able to draw in. (# 11) HOLY JOSY With two sprints under her belt this Leestown filly ran well enough to win when stretched out to a mile last time. She put her pace rivals away with blazing fractions, opened a clear lead in the lane but could not hold off the winner who closed from off the pace. She was the only one of the pacesetters to finish in the top 4. (# 1) AFTERNOON GIRL Failed to fire when favored over some of these in the slop. She was in tight quarters late and was elevated to 4th via DQ. Chance to rebound on a fast track for the hot Asmussen outfit. She was well bet but did not show much against tougher fillies in her first two. (# 7) FAST CITY GIRL Appears the one to catch stretching out to 2 turns. Even so, she has shown that when confronted in the stretch, she backs down and tired badly. This barn very good with horses going sprint to a route.
RACE ONE OBSERVATIONS
3-2 co-favorite SHE’S YUMMY accelerated boldly in mid stretch to easily blow by the pacesetter BOUND TO and drew off to a convincing win. Appears to have a future. BLOCK PARTY ran a big race in grass debut. Checked at the start finding herself last. Sustained a strong wide rally into the stretch and continued on gamely thru the lane. ANGAPANGA steadied when in tight quarters in mid stretch. Eased outside to get clear running. Had no punch late when it counted. BOUND TO cleared early. Rated well on the front end. Had no resistance when passed by the winner in mid stretch, tiring badly.
*** BAR SHOE OFF RACE ONE ***
Bar shoe off on (# 6) MIZZEN TO ME
*** RACE ONE ANALYSIS ***
(# 1) BOUND TO 4yo filly put it together when switched to the turf by Autrey last out. She had been a bit disappointing in her first two starts of the meet. She comes off a highly rated win over a field of conditioned claimers that was as tough as this 1st tier allowance. She ran some big races last year when in the Mott barn and seems to be coming back around. (# 1A) TRUSTY Makes 1st start for Autrey which is always a move that must be respected. Wasting no time putting this undefeated filly on the grass. (# 8) SHE’S YUMMY Broke her maiden over this turf course when making her debut for Mike Stidham. She looked a bit green when she drifted in late but was clear of the field. She brought just $12,000 as a weanling. With two useful drills since her debut she can build on that effort this afternoon. (# 2) ANGAPANGA 6yo mare just beat a strong field of open claimers at this distance. Jeff Thornbury has her cleverly placed in a low level allowance that actually amounts to a drop in class. She has the high % pressing style and is in peaking form. Lightly raced mare has won 5 of her 13 starts. (# 4) BLOCK PARTY Makes her 1st start on grass. Hails from a strong turf sire. Has good early speed.
TRACK CONDITIONS
MAIN TRACK IS FAST. GRASS COURSE IS FIRM.

INTRODUCTION
WELCOME TO “LIVEWITHTHEWIZARD” AT THE FAIR GROUNDS

My format for Saturday’s card at the Fair Grounds will be the following: I will provide you with detailed analysis on horses I feel are contenders for all ten races. This analysis will be posted no later than ten minutes to post. Once the horses are in the paddock, and enter the track for the post parade, I will post any observations that I feel are important. I will always keep you informed if I notice any betting patterns. Following the race, after I watch the pan shot as well as the head on, I will point out important trips and horses to watch when they run back, only if I have a strong opinion. I will keep you abreast of any prevailing track bias throughout the day. Following the day’s program, I will list those horses, which might be good betting opportunities the next time they run back.
