RACE ELEVEN TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
First timers run 1-2 with 15-1 upset winner BREEZING RAIN scoring easily at 15-1. Rated in mid pack along the inside. Strong run through the stretch to blow away the field. P.S. I LOVE YOU, was rated behind the winner. Swung out very wide into the stretch and was closing boldly too late. 8-5 favorite RUN FOR IT, set a controlled pace along the inside. Was challenged in mid stretch and succumbed without a fight in a very dissapointing effort.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS RACE ELEVEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 7 SLEETCALLING is washed out in the paddock. All other horses look ok with the exception of the 2-1 favorite, # 3 RUN FOR IT, who looks great.
FORT PRADO
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
This is Fort Prado's third win in this race, with a second place finish. What a horse!!
BETTING ACTION RACE ELEVEN ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 9 I'M FROM DIXIE, opened up the 9-5 choice, despite being 9-2 in the morning line. Odds spread out after that one.
ANOTHER PADDOCK OBSERVATION SCORES!
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
For the second straight race, I pointed out a horse who stood out in the paddock. This time it was the grey 8 year old FORT PRADO, who scores at 7-2, defeating the overbet 4-5 favorite GENTLEMAN CHESTER and reversing the decision from this same race last year. Despite a snail pace, Fort Prado was still able to close from off the pace in a very gritty victory. Good ride by Borel aboard the favorite. Followed the winner just inside of that one. Prado got the jump on him, as Borel swung Chester out at the top of the stretch. Was gaining on that rival too late. FREE FIGHTER, who was washed out in the paddock, nevertheless ran well stalking the slow pace, then continuing on well to be a good third.
PICK OF THE DAY SCORES AGAIN!
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Nailed an 8-5 winner and a $16.00 exacta, with another Pick Of The Day winner today! Since last November, I am winning at a huge 47 % rate, for a heafty flat bet profit which does not even include all the exactas and tri's given out. Available 7 days a week.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS RACE TEN AND MORE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 2b FREE FIGHTER is washed out and is a throw out for me. All other horses look good, especially the hard knocking 8 year old Fort Prado.
# 5 is still odds on. Certainly the horse to beat, but is overbet.
# 5 is still odds on. Certainly the horse to beat, but is overbet.
BETTING ACTION RACE TEN ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 5 GENTLEMAN CHESTER, opened up the huge and way overbet favorite at 3-5 odds. The closest to him in the wagering is 5-1. He's also a big favorite in all pools. This short price is also a result of Calvin Borel, a fan favorite, coming in for the ride.
RACE NINE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Horse I mentioned who made a great appearance, scores at 6-1. OCEAN ACE broke sharp, then was challenged and passed by second finisher AGNOSTIC to his inside. Came back to challenge that rival at the top of the stretch and slowly edged clear. Good race by Agnostic who was well clear of the rest.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS RACE NINE AND MORE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
You won't find a more open board than this one. The favorite is 7-2, with 6 other horses between 5-1 and 6-1.
All 9 horses look good, especially # 2 OCEAN ACE and # 4 LAST WOMPUS
All 9 horses look good, especially # 2 OCEAN ACE and # 4 LAST WOMPUS
MORE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 1 AGNOSTIC, opened up at 5-1, but is the clear favorite in ALL pools. Odds will no doubt drop.
BETTING ACTION RACE NINE ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Very spread out in the opening flash, with the favorite at 3-1, and closely bunched with several others.
RACE EIGHT TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
7-2 winner APPLE MARTINI, won only because of the tremendous ride put up by Eddie Razo Jr. Saved ground on all turns. Waited patiently for a hole to open in the stretch. Split horses very late with a daring move, and just nailed SUN FOR FUN on the line. Terrific race! Sun For Fun saved ground in front of the winner. Moved before that one, swinging off the rail. Stiff drive to take narrow lead nearing the wire, but was just nosed out for the win. LABAR may have been best. Forced to take the overland route, closing boldly from far back while widest through the stretch.
MORE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Wide open board as the favorite is 5-2 and well spread out from there. If you are playing Pick 3's or Pick 4's, this is a good spread race.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS RACE EIGHT
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 2 is WASHED OUT. A throw out for me.
LACK OF PACE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
What makes this race so tricky, is that there are no confirmed front runners in the field. Whoever gets the lead, will be dangerous, as the pace figures to be very slow, which could hurt the closers.
BETTING ACTION RACE EIGHT ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 3 and # 4 are the clear favorites on the open at 2-1 and 5-2. The rest are well spread out.
RACE SEVEN TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
12-1 upset winner LIFE'S LESSONS, who had 3 wins in 44 starts, as well as being o-10 at Arlington, ran the race of his life. Set a pressured pace from the start. Put away the other speed inside the 1/8th pole, and drove clear to a convincing win. The others should have been able to close on the duel, but showed little.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS RACE SEVEN AND BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 8 PAPA continues to take all the money at 8-5 odds. The closest other betting choice is # 11 at 5-1.
All 10 horses look good, especially # 9 JILLUKE and # 11 HOLY THURSDAY.
All 10 horses look good, especially # 9 JILLUKE and # 11 HOLY THURSDAY.
MORE BETTING ACTION RACE SEVEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 8 PAPA just took a pop, driving his price down to the clear 2-1 favorite. He is also the favorite in all pools.
BETTING ACTION RACE SEVEN ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Very wide open board on the open with the favorite at 3-1 and the rest well spread out.
RACE SIX TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
25-1 upset by RIVER BEAR, who received a great ride by Thornton. Raced in mid pack into the stretch. Steady run from mid stretch, but was forced to split horses late. Surged to the lead late and outgammed MIGHTY RULE who stalked outside cheap speed. Put that one away at the top of the stretch, then fought on gamely to the wire in a fine effort. Sneaky early money on BIG RUSHLET almost proved correct, as he made a strong rally racing widest in the stretch. Continued well to deep stretch, but was outfinished.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS AND MORE BETTING ACTION IN RACE SIX
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
All 10 horses look good, especially # 2 MIGHTY RULE (7-1) and # 7 AMAZING RESULTS (9-2)
# 10 has drifted up from 9-5 on the opne to 4-1. Very wide open board in a very competitive dash.
# 10 has drifted up from 9-5 on the opne to 4-1. Very wide open board in a very competitive dash.
MID DAY BIAS UPDATE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
There is no bias on the polytrack today. You can wire, close, race on the rail and rally outside.
RACE SIX BETTING ACTION ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Interesting open here as # 10 BIG RUSHLET, 8-1 on the morning line, opened up the big favorite at 9-5. # 3, # 7 and # 8, are the ones who are getting bet most in all pools. This means that there is some "sneaky" money on # 10.
RACE FIVE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Very game win by 9-2 winner BOW TIE PASTA, who sat in mid pack while wide. Hooked by PATHWAY in deep stretch, and came again to edge clear late. Tough trip for Pathway, who was forced to sustain a very wide rally from the 1/4 pole to the finish. Loomed late, but got tired in the final yards. Watch back on the grass.
PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS RACE FIVE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
All 8 horses look good, especially # 8 NAPOLEON'S RETREAT, who shows the best appearance in the field.
RACE FIVE BETTING ACTION AT THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 7 PATHWAY opened up at 5-1, but is a solid favorite in all pools, especially the Pick 3's. # 6 CUMULONIMBLE, 6-1 in the morning line, opened up very short at 2-1. Way overbet. Taking this kind of money, because fan favorite Calvin Borel is aboard for the first time.
RACE FOUR TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Three 5-2 favorites run 1-2-3. Great ride by Graham aboard NICKS. Saved ground in 4th until tipping out at perfect time inside the 1/8th pole to wear down SECRET KIN and MAGNETIC MISS at the wire. Secret Kin sat a perfect trip behind a contested pace. Swung out top of the stretch, took narrow lead in deep stretch, and was just outfinished. Game effort by Magnetic Miss who set a pressured pace throughout. Fought gamely to the wire.
VET SCRATCH
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 5 has been scratched by the track vet. Consolation doubles. Pick 3's and Pick 4's go the post time favorite.
FIELD BACKED OUT FROM GATE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 5 PEYOTE PATTY reared in the gate then fell. Being examined by track vet.
MORE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Very wide open board in a wide open race.
RACE FOUR BETTING ACTION ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Wide open board with # 1 and # 3, the co-favorites.
RACE THREE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
5-2 favorite SUMMER FLIGHT, jumped right out to the lead and never looked back, staying on the rail throughout. DOT'S IN STYLE was hard used chasing the winner in 2nd, and continued on willingly. DEFIANT DARLING closed down the middle of the track, but had to settle for third with a perfect set up to finish on.
MORE BETTING ACTION RACE THREE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 8 continues to overbet favorite at 2-1.
HORSE WASHED OUT
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 6 HEAVEN'S FLAME, is washed out in the post parade. A throwout for me.
RACE THREE BETTING ACTION ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 8 SUMMER FLIGHT, opened up the clear 8-5 favorite and will no doubt end up the favorite at post time.
RACE TWO TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
8-5 favorite INDULGENCE, was fortunate that 9-5 1st timer WINNING TALE, got bumped hard leaving the gate. Hard to say if the 1ster would have won, but it would have been much closer. Indulgence was able to clear early and held her advantage to the wire. Winning Tale had to be used early to overcome trouble at the start. Swung wide into the stretch, and then continued on gamely to the wire.
BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
1st time starter # 2, just took a nice bet, dropping odds from 7-2 to 5-2.
MORE BETTING ACTION RACE TWO
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Odds have not changed much with 5 minutes to go. # 4 is at 7-5, and is overbet. 1st timer # 2 is drifting up a bit at 7-2, with several other 1sters a bit higher. VERY TOUGH RACE!
RACE TWO PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
All 7 two year olds look good and are calm.
RACE TWO BETTING ACTION ON THE OPEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 4, INDULGENCE, opened up the 7-5 favorite as expected off a good 2nd in debut. That came over slop at Churchill on dirt. Today she races on a dry track and poly. Certainly the horse to beat, but overbet at this point. Only 1st timer to be taking decent money at 3-1 is # 2 WINNING TALE.
RACE TWO (Opening leg of the Pick 4)
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
7 horses in the race, with 5 who are first time starters, all with good pedigrees and connections. Only # 4 and # 8 have run, and both performed ok. Very hard race to wager much on, if at all.
JOCKEY'S CLAIM OF FOUL
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 3 (ran 3rd) against the winner # 2, for interferance at the 3/16th pole.
RACE ONE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
The merry go round of rediculously overbet horses continues each Saturday when I do Livewiththewizard. Even money favorite PRAIRIE ACADEMY sat a perfect trip behind dueling leaders. Looked home free in mid stretch, but was outfinished by 3-1 second choice SWEET DAHLIA. The favorite is a bet against next time out!
MORE BETTING ACTION RACE ONE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
# 1 is 8-5 with 2 minutes to go. A 1-15 lifetime winner is not what I would call a good bet at this very low price.
RACE ONE PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS AND BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
All 7 horses look fine. # 1 and # 5 are co-favorites at 2-1. Either one could win, but they are both overbet.
WEATHER
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
It is very hot and humid this afternoon after several days of cool weather. I will pay close attention to horses who might wash out in the paddock or the post parade. This would be a big negative.
RACE ONE
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
Plenty of question marks in the opening race. # 1, # 3, # 5 are all getting bet, and are close in odds. The horse who appears interesting is # 6 LAGUNA AMIGA, who is 6-1 with 20 minutes to go. Hails from the red hot Von Hemel barn.
MORE SCRATCHES TO COME
by The Wizard on Saturday, June 20, 2009
I expect more scratches to come in, especially in the races which were scheduled for the grass, and are now switched to the polytrack.
