RACE TEN TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The speed ran 1-2 all the way around the track with the way overbet 2-1 favorite off the board. TRIPP O STEEL was nursed along on a clear lead from the start. Win was never in doubt. The second finisher CLASSIC RECITAL tried hard throughout to run down the front runner, but held well for a clear second at the mile distance. None of the others showed much, with several prefering longer.

RACE TEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Wide open maiden grass race with 12 entrants. # 8 RIMINI REBEL is the 2-1 favorite with 20 minutes to. This is an absurd price on a horse who has never raced on the grass and will have to win against a large field. He does have a solid grass pedigree on his dam side, but still the price is too low. Wide open board behind this 3 year old.
RACE NINE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The race was over at the break when 1-5 winner INFORMED DECISION broke like a shot and quickly slowed down the pace to a very pedestrian 1st quarter for her level. Woodbine invader AUTHENTICAT tried hard to pressure her, but was dusted away at the top of the stretch, and then was unable to hold off the no threat charge of UNFORGOTTEN, who passed a tired chaser late. Next stop for this classy four year old, will probably be at Saratoga.
INFORMED DECISION
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Very rare to see a horse at 1-9 odds, but with 5 minutes to go, that is exactly what her price is.
RACE NINE PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
All six horses look very good. Favorite looks great! Now 1-5 odds. Don't even think about betting this horse to win. If you play, look for late doubles, or a trifecta in this race.

UPDATED WEATHER REPORT
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The rain continues to fall and it's pretty heavy. They are still calling the grass course FIRM. I call it "GOOD". Race ten is scheduled for the weeds.
RACE NINE
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
We have a 1-9 shot (pays $2.10 if she wins) That's # 3 INFORMED DECISION, who goes for her fifth straight wins dating back to last September. This field looks clearly overmatched, but at 1-9 odds ???
RACE EIGHT TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
7-2 winner SINGLE SOLUTION came rolling down the center of the track to win going away after getting a contested pace to close into. Perfectly timed ride by Eddie Perez. 8-5 favorite OMEGA CAT, could not handle the "off" footing of the grass, and raced poorly.
RACE EIGHT PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 4 LADY OF GREATNESS gets front bandages back on. Both wins have come with fronts on. All horses look well.
RACE EIGHT
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Wide open board with # 10 OMEGA CAT, the 2-1 choice. She must overcome the tough outside post to win this grass race. # 3 and # 5 are the co second choices at 7-2. The rest are all longshots. It's important to pay close attention to those horses who move up over a grass course with some "give" to it.
WEATHER AND BIAS UPDATE
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
With the rain today, the polytrack has plenty of moisture to it and the grass I would call closer to "good", then firm, which is what the track is listing. I see no bias today.
RACE SEVEN TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
First timer DECEPTIVE GLORY, scores at 3-1, after taking "sneaky" money midway through the wagering. Ran a powerful race to split horses at the eighth pole, and draw clear with complete authority. Appears to have a future. THATSWHATSHESAID was hard used chasing a two horse duel racing wide throughout. Tried hard through the stretch, but was no match for the winner, but was clearly second best. 9-5 favorite SIXTYSIX MARGAUX did not show the speed she exibited in her debut, and ran awful.
BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
First timer # 5 DECEPTIVE GLORY, from the always dangerous Calhoun barn, just took a big hit, from 4-1 to 2-1, and also in the exotics. Obviously, looks very "live".
RACE SEVEN CONTINUED
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The # 6 exits the same race as the second place finisher in the first division, I See Mambo. She was beaten only a nose by that one, finishing third, beaten just over a length.
RACE SEVEN
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
This is the second division of a 4 1/2 furlong two year old race fo fillies. (Race two was the first one). Of the seven horses entered, only # 2 SIXTYSIX MARGAUX and # 6 THATS WHATSHESAID have run and both ran well. Of the first timers, only # 1 PROUD AND SALTY, is taking some money at 4-1.
RACE SIX TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Top two choices run 1-2. First time gelding, 2-1 winner PAISANO CREEK, received a perfectly timed rally from off the pace while rallying wide in deep stretch to wear down LOAD A CHRONIC, who moved before the winner and held gamely. Good effort from longshot DON LOBIZON, who moved before the top two, but was no match for both in deep stretch.
RACE SIX PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
All 12 horses look ok. New gelding #10, is the slight 5-2 favorite over 3-1 second choice # 6 LOAD A CHRONIC.
WEATHER
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The rain is falling very hard. The grass is listed as FIRM. I call it GOOD!
RACE SIX
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Turf is listed Firm, but there is some give to it as a result of the rain. # 6 LOAD A CHRONIC is the 9-5 favorite with 15 minutes to go. The clear 2nd choice is # 10 PAISANO CREEK. The odds on the rest are well spread out in a very competitive race.
RACE FIVE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Rider E.T. Baird showed why he is the best rider at this meet, as he did not let the 3-2 favorite AGNOSTIC shake loose from him, as he chased him from the start. When Agnostic spurted clear on the turn, Baird went after him again. When the two turned for him, 5-2 second choice HE'S BONAFIDE was right up to his flanks. The two fought tooth and nail until deep stretch, when Bonafide edged clear and then was all out to hold off the fast closing SUNDAE SLEW who sat a perfect inside out trip.
RACE FIVE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The money is coming in on # 4, driving his win price down to the clear cut 3-2 favorite and the choice in all exotic pools.
UPDATED WEATHER REPORT
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
It is raining very hard now with 13 minutes to go in race five.
RACE FIVE
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 1 THREE TICKETS, 6-1 on the morning line, opened up the favorite at 8-5, but is the third choice in most of the exotics behind AGNOSTIC, who is 5-2 with 17 minutes left and figures to drift down to be the clear cut choice at post time. There is not much early speed in here, so whoever gets the lead, could hold a big tactical advantage over the rest. The 1, 4 and 7, have the most early speed of the rest.
RACE FOUR TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
3-1 favorite CAT AT PLAY, showed sharp early speed to take an easy lead out of the gate. Had no problem holding off # 9 GOING HELFAST, who chased in second throughout, while adding fronts for the first time. Horses who raced behind those two, showed little.

UPDATED WEATHER REPORT
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Rain continues to fall during race four. It's coming down a bit harder than earlier. They are listing the grass firm, but there is some "give" to it now.
RACE FOUR PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS AND WEATHER
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 5 STAND N BE COUNTED, washed out in the paddock (negative). # 9 GOING HELFAST, adds front bandages for the first time (big negative). # 1 CAT AT PLAY, is a little fat for her debut (slight negative), # 6 DEAR FRIEND has a dull coat (negative).
RACE FOUR
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Very difficult race,There are two horses who are the favorites at 5-1, which just indicates how hard race four is. These are maidens going 5 furlongs on the grass. Of the eleven horses entered, Only one horse (# 5) has run on the grass and that was over a distance of ground, where she was beaten 16 lengths after showing early speeed. The cut back should help. There is some grass pedigree on some entrants in here, but with a short run into the first turn, a slow start and/or trouble could pose a problem with any horse in here.
ADDITIONAL LATE SCRATCH IN RACE FOUR
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 12 PRETENDICA is a late scratch in race four.
RACE THREE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Unlike the first race, when the winner shook clear early to set a snail pace, the same scenario looked to play out in here in a race which lacked any early speed. The pace was very slow as expected, but it did not matter at all, as the two front runners quit bad in mid stretch. 5-2 winner HARIOLUS, who was getting fronts back on, scored easily after a strong wide move into the stretch. DEPUTY SREVA cluncked along for a well beaten second.
RACE THREE PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 1 RYLEE RIVER adds front bandages for the first time which is a big negative for this one run closer. # 4 HARIOLUS adds fronts. Wore them twice before with no success. I also feel this is a negative at a short price.
UPDATED WEATHER REPORT
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The rain continues to fall, but just lightly.
RACE THREE
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 5 SO BUSTED, opened up the 6-5 favorite, but # 4 HARIOUS is the betting favorite in the doubles, Pick 3's and exactas, so the role of favoritism figures to reverse itself as post time nears. The main problem with this race, is that there is no horse of the six entered, who show much early speed. Very difficult to pick out the front runner in here. The pace should be slow, so whoever can assume command early, figures to be very tough, with the closers at a disadvantage.
RACE TWO TRIP NOTES (NO CHANGE IN THE ORDER)
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Both horses who started ran one two. Winner CREDIT CRUNCH, was sent off the slight 3-2 favorite over I SEE MAMBO, who was 8-5. Credit beat the gate and opened up a big lead early as Mambo took up the chase. It began to tighten up at the top of the stretch, but Credit was able to spurt clear inside the 1/16th pole. 1st timer ATTEMPT TO NAME chased along the rail and was gaining on the leaders late. She was forced to check at the 1/16th pole when the winner came in a bit on her but Credit was able to hold on, as Mambo made another run at her, but just fell short at the wire. THE STEWARDS MADE NO CHANGE IN THE ORDER.
RIDER CLAIM OF FOUL
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Third place finisher # 5 claiming against the winner # 1, for interferance at the 1/16th pole.
MORE BETTING ACTION
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 1 is now 2-1 (figures to be around that or even a bit lower, after opening up at 8-1. # 7 continues to be the favorite at 9-5. None of the five 1st timers are taking any serious money
RACE TWO PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 2 ROCKINWITHER does not look 100 % fit (is fat), the rest look fine.
UPDATED WEATHER
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Rain is falling with 13 minutes to go in race two. I will keep you abreast with the weather.
RACE TWO
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
Only two horses have run from the seven entrants. # 1 CR$EDIT CRUNCH, comes off two good 2nd place finishes, his last as the beaten odds on favorite. 5-2 on the morning line, she opened up an "icy" 8-1. Figures to drop way down with the betting. The 9-5 favorite is # 7 I SEE MAMBO, who adds lasix after a solid but tough trip second in debut. Figures to move foward in he 2nd start. The other five are firsters, who are taking some money with 20 minutes to go, but nothing of real note yet.
RACE ONE TRIP NOTES
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
The RED HOT Dale Bennett barn continues to win in bunches, as 4-1 upset winner ELEGANT KITTEN, stole the race on the front end, setting a snail pace. This did in the 3-5 favorite TRIGGER FISH LANE, who was forced to chase wide all the way. Tried to rally through the stretch, but came up empty.
RACE ONE PADDOCK OBSERVATIONS
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
All five horses look very good.
RACE ONE BETTING ACTION AND RECENT BIAS THIS WEEK
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 6 continues to be hammered. now at 1-2. She is undefeated in three starts over the Arlington Park polytrack. NOTE: The last two days, the inside part of the track has been the place to be.
RACE ONE
by The Wizard on Saturday, July 04, 2009
# 6 TRIGGER FISH LANE is the huge 3-5 favorite in the win pool and just as heavily bet in exotics. She is the deserving choice off three straight wins against similar and even meeting some weaker foes.
