FINAL TRACK BIAS AND HORSE TO WATCH
The polytrack favored speed and the turf course favored late runners.

HORSE TO WATCH

8th race COUNTRY FLAVOR
3yo gelding was making just his second start since February and first against winners. He was hung extremely wide on the first turn when moving into contention, raced in 3rd for most of the way and held on well. Think he can beat a field like this next time and the price should be right.
TRIP NOTES RACE ELEVEN
James Graham on the turf...again. He rated favored SLICK MISS in last, came wide for the drive and got up in the final strides. #8 RAINBOW SKY stalked in 4th, moved out 3-wide to take the lead but the winner was just too tough. Under a nice ride by Castanon #3 SHE'LL BE RIGHT saved ground well off the pace then came flying along the inside to get 3rd.
PADDOCK RACE ELEVEN
All looked good.
BETTING RACE ELEVEN
With 11 minutes to post #1 SLICK MISS is favored at 8-5 while #8 RAINBOW SKY is cold on the board at 9-1.
TRIP REPORT RACE TEN
#3 IT'S NEVER TO LATE moved to the front after a quarter, set a pressured pace, opened up in the lane but was all out to hold off #2 CLIFFY'S FUTURE. 'FUTURE stalked along the rail, was in high gear in deep stretch and was getting to the winner. #5 SEA OF BILLS moved into contention on the stretch turn and also finished well.
ANALYSIS RACE ELEVEN
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 11

1 SLICK MISS
Scored her maiden win at this one mile trip on the turf and was only beaten a neck over this course two back at the same distance in open company. Must be considered a major contender today with Graham back in the irons.

7 FLEET DYNA
3yo Northern Afleet filly circled the field closing well to beat the 11 horse MSW field here by nearly two lengths in her career debut for trainer Jeff Thornbury. She moved to a mile on the turf next out and ran much better then her 6th place finish would suggest as she found herself 13 lengths back after a slow break over a yielding course. That was way too much to make up facing a strong field which included repeat winner Romacaca. The barn turned her back to sprinting on the main track for last two but she was never a factor. She takes a significant drop into conditioned claiming today while returning to a mile on the grass and, with her breeding, she definitely deserves another shot on the surface.

8 RAINBOW SKY
3yo Zavata filly has shown much improvement in her last two since trainer Tom Proctor stretched her out in distance. She scored an easy 3 length maiden win last out on the main strip but her best figure came on the turf in her previous start.

10 LAKE COOKGets the class drop she needs after being consistently competitive against allowance fillies. This will be her first start for a claiming tag. Vanier homebred is a contender despite the tough outside post.
PADDOCK RACE TEN
#3 IT'S NEVER TO LATE and #4 HE'S BONAFIDE looked best of these.
BETTING RACE TEN
#3 IT'S NEVER TO LATE is an overwhelming favorite as expected. With 12 minutes to post he is 3-5.
ANALYSIS RACE TEN
Nobody rides this turf course like James Graham. He rated #6 BLUE SMOKE BESS at the back of the pack then threaded the needle along the rail to get up in the final strides. #4 SARAHTHETIGER wide much of the way, got to the rail on on the turn and looked like she had made the winning move until the winner burst through on the rail. #1 RICHWOOD SILVER set solid fractions and only gace way grudgingly. She missed just only about a half-length.

RACE 10

2 CLIFFY’S FUTURE
3yo was moved to the barn of Darrin Miller this year and, in his second try for Miller, he won the $100K Rushaway Stakes at Turfway before being overmatched in back to back G1 races. Makes his second start off the layofff today dropping to a much more suitable spot on the main strip.

3 IT’S NEVER TOO LATE
4yo has been a consistent performer for trainer Danny Miller, hitting the board in 11 of 18 with 5 wins which includes 6 of 7 with 2 wins over the main strip here. Just won at this same level here two starts back by over 6 lengths and is the choice today with Alvarado.

4 HE’S BONAFIDEHas never been worse then second while racing on the main track here at Arlington while winning 3 of 5. Game seconds in his last two under today's same conditions and certainly can't ignore.
PADDOCK RACE NINE
This well matched field all looked good in the paddock.
BETTING RACE NINE
With 16 minutes to post this is a wide open betting race. It is notable that line favorite #8 ITSAGIMME is dead on the board at 11-1.
TRIP NOTES RACE EIGHT
#4 ZION stalked the early leader #3 UPSELL, got on even terms with that rival at the furlong pole and won clear. #5 STAR PLAYER rated just behind the leadera along the rail, was clearly 2nd best although unable to finish with the winner. #6 COUNTRY FLAVOR was hung extremely wide on the first turn when moving into contention, raced in 3rd for most of the way and held on well. Look for a big race from him next time.
ANALYSIS RACE NINE

RACE 9

2 PRAIRIE ACADEMY
4yo filly has only been worse then second once this year for trainer Joel Berndt and returns to the turf today at the same distance where she posted a career best when winning here three back. Respect with LaSala up.

5 LEMON DROP GIRL
Moves to the next condition following a powerful win over “two lifers” on the poly last out. Although she has not won on the grass she handles the surface at least as well as the main track.

8 ITSAGIMME
Never got involved last out breaking from post ten with a wide trip the entire way over a yielding course. In her previous four starts, all on the lawn here, she was never out of the money while scoring two wins. First try for a tag today and major player reuniting with Razo.

9 DELPHINIUM
4yo filly has shown much improvement since moving to this barn in May, hitting the board in 3 of 5 on the turf at Canterbury which includes two wins. Posted a good work here at Arlington since last and the choice today with Sterling up.
PADDOCK RACE EIGHT
#3 UPSELL was briefly nervous in the paddock but looked sharp when she stepped onto the track. Others all looked good.
BETTING RACE EIGHT
With 14 minutes to post #5 STAR PLAYER has been bet from 9-2 down to 5-2, the Catalano syndrome.
TRIP NOTES RACE SEVEN
#2 BALLYNOE had a good position early but was allowed to drop back to 6th with a quarter mile to go. Graham was able to find a seam through the pack and she burst into the lead and held off #3WINTER VIEW. 'VIEW was dead last entering the stretch, rallied down the far outside but cound not get to the winner. 1S SWEET AND FLAWLESS was also going well at the wire and got up for 3rd.
ANALYSIS RACE EIGHT
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 8

3 UPSELL
Colt has shown huge improvement on the synthetic surface here this year, scoring back to back wins before fading to 4th after setting a fast pace going 7F. That was his first start off the claim by Bennett. Stretches back out in distance today and if Karlsson can get him to settle could prove tough.

4 ZION
3yo colt comes off the turf stretching back out to two turns in his second start off the break for trainer Steve Asmussen. Can find the winner's circle today facing the softest group of his 10 race career.

5 STAR PLAYER
4yo failed to prove a factor on the turf here last out making his first start since moving to the barn of Wayne Catalano. Colt ran some big races against quality company for his previous barn and can certainly rebound today.
PADDOCK RACE SEVEN
This is a good looking group of mares. #3 WINTER VIEW looks fit and ready.
BETTING RACE SEVEN
Orderly betting pattern with #3 WINTER VIEW a very solid even-money choice.
TRIP NOTES RACE SIX
SINGER'S LEGACY was far back to the stretch, rallied powerfully between horses to get up in the final 70 yards. #10 SPRUCE LAKE stalked in 5th, moved around the leaders on the stretch turn and looked like the winner before he flattened out late. #5 STORM BOOT LARRY came widest of all into the lane and got up for 3rd in a blanket finish.
ANALYSIS RACE SEVEN
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 7

2 BALLYNOE (post 1)
Given two months off following his 5th place finish in the Gaily stakes. He has been too aggressive in the early stages so Proctor removes the hood. That last race was his first attempt at a marathon distance, so look for better this time.

3 WINTER VIEW (post 2)
5yo mare from the barn of Jonathan Sheppard posted back to back wins this spring at Keeneland when stretching out to this 1 1/2 mile distance on the grass which included the G3 Bewitch. Mare followed with a G3 win at Colonial Downs before missing by 1 1/2 lengths at Delaware last out. Has been freshened and look for a winning effort today back at the distance where she is 2 for 2. Castanon rides.

1X SWEET AND FLAWLESS (post 8)
Improving 3yo filly has only been off the board once since scoring her maiden win in March for trainer Eric Reed. Beaten 1/2 length in the G3 Oaks on the main strip here two back and did finish 4th beating half the field in the G1 Alabama last out. First on turf today but should handle it.
PADDOCK RACE SIX
Lyndie Wade is riding #2 W W CASE ACE. These bottom-level claimers have a lot of miles on them, but all look ok.
BETTING RACE SIX
With 14 minutes to post the only unusual betting is veteran #10 SPRUCE LAKE bet from 5-1 to the favorite at 2-1.
MID-DAY TRACK BIAS
The polytrack has strongly favored early speed. The turf course has been fair.
TRIP NOTES RACE FIVE
#3 WAYNETTA set a decent pace with #6 UP IN LIGHTS pressing in 2nd. They held those positions all the way with WAYNETTA pulling clear late. #1A TALKING AUDREY raced in mid-pack, finished well between horses to win a tight photo for 3rd.

RACE 6

3 PARADE ROUTE
Lightly raced 6yo Giant's Causeway gelding won his career debut at Sunland Park last spring and, although didn't hit the board in next three, was claimed out of his last start of 2008 by trainer McLean Robertson. Was idle till July for new barn but posted back to back wins on his return followed by a game second before settling for a 4th place finish last out as the favorite. His best effort for his new barn came in his only try on the turf in late July at Canterbury which suggests he is more then likely to handle the synthetic surface in his local debut today. Barn has spotted him well dropping in for a nickel at a distance that suits him perfectly. Sterling has the call and expecting this gelding to score at a price in only his 9th career start.

4 CURE
Honest 5yo has hit the board in 8 of 9 with 3 wins this year including game score here last out dropping to today's tag. He was claimed by Larry Rivelli who hits over 20% with haltered horses and is the main threat today with Graham back.

9 SHAKESPEREAN STORY
8yo has won 11 of his 38 main track starts while overcoming many problems. He beat softer conditioned claimers in his first start off the Chris Dorris claim then finished a close 4th against several of these last out.
PADDOCK RACE FIVE
Monterrey is now riding #1 SHARP CURRENT. #1A TALKING AUDREY and #7 TOOL TIME GIRL looked best of these. There were no negatives.
BETTING RACE FIVE
With 12 minutes to post #6 UP IN LIGHTS has been bet from 8-1 down to 7-2.
TRIP NOTES RACE FOUR
#1 N. Y. WISE GUY broke on top but was quickly engaged by longshot #9 TOUGH JODI. 'WISE GUY turned that one back, pulled clear and was never threatened. A solid performance by the winner as he was heavily pressured. #2 MAN O' WONDER stalked in 3rd, moved to press the leader a furlong out. He was able to hold off the hanging #8 KATOLAK COWBOY for the place. 'COWBOY looped the field with a menacing move on the stretch turn but lost his punch late.
ANALYSIS RACE FIVE
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 5

2 VILLAGE STREET
2yo Street Cry filly did well to beat half the field in her career debut here last out going a mile over a yielding course after a poor start. Trainer Greg Geier sends her around two turns this time and she will relish the added ground. Choice at a good price with Sanchez back aboard.

7 TOOL TIME GIRL
Tale of the Cat filly makes her fourth career start today for trainer Tom Proctor stretching out TO two turns on the turf. She is more then capable of proving a contender with Alvarado returning.

8 MAPLE HEIGHTS
Powerscourt filly makes her career debut today for trainer Richard Scherer who excels with 2yos, winning at a clip of nearly 30% and can have them ready to go a distance at first asking. Steady work tab makes her a major player with Campbell up.
PADDOCK RACE FOUR
#1 N. Y. WISE GUY is on his toes...looks ready. Others all looked good.
BETTING RACE FOUR
With 15 minutes to post #8 KATOLAK COWBOY is the 5-2 favorite, down from 8-1. Line favorite #7 FAST PROMISES is dead on the boaed at 6-1
TRIP NOTES RACE THREE
#3 DOCTOR CARINA saved ground near the back of the pack, stayed inside on the turn, found room in the 3-path and ran down the leaders to win going away. #6 AWESOME PLAY set an honest pace and was able to hold all of them off except the winner. #1 TAKACHANCEONME Stalked all the way and finished well to hold 3rd.
ANALYSIS RACE FOUR
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 4

1 N. Y. WISE GUY
Won his first two starts of the meet then was done in bu pressing a blazing pace last time. Late blooming 3yo has a shot at the win with the right ride. Sukie replaces Emigh.

3 LUMPSINMYOATMEAL
3yo has done little wrong this year since moving to Coty Rosin's barn, hitting the board in 6 of 7 with 2 wins. Won A $35k stakes at Canterbury last out by over 4 lengths and, although he makes his local debut today, love the fact that the barn shipped in early for a good 5F work on 9-14.

5 BORDER CUVEE
Has maintained good form all year for trainer Steve Asmussen. He shipped from Lone Star making his local debut here last out at today's same tag and was beaten only a neck at 5-1. Respect with a race over the strip now and Graham back up.

7 FAST PROMISES
Has finished in the money in 4 of his 6 starts since shipping from Florida and moving to the synthetic surfaces. Faced better in last two at PID but just missed in all three previous starts here and fits well today reuniting with Alvarado.
PADDOCK RACE THREE
All of these fillies looked good.
BETTING RACE THREE
With 17 minutes to post #3 DOCTOR CARINA is the 6-5 choice, no surprise there. #8 KISS THE QUEEN is the well-bet 2nd choice at 5-2, down from a line price of 6-1.
TRIP NOTES RACE TWO
Favored #2 STAY SEES MOM took the lead right out of the gate and was allowed to set slow fractions. Her closest pursuer, #1 WILMINGTON, dropped out after 6 furlongs in 1:15. 'MOM continued to widen under a fine ride from Castanon. #5 PASSADE tracked in 3rd, moved up to chase the winner but could make little headway. She was clearly 2nd best though. #3 SUPER LADYBUG (1 for 57 lifetime) closed from last to finish a distant 3rd.
ANALYSIS RACE THREE
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 3

3 DOCTOR CARINA
Filly from the barn of Tom Proctor was beaten less then two lengths combined in four starts on the turf coming off the break in April. That includes just missing in both tries over this course at today's same class level. Toss her last with valid excuse and she is a major contender here.

8 KISS THE QUEEN
4yo Chief Seattle filly may not have found the winner's circle in her ten trips to the post this year for trainer Helen Pitts but she has been running well, finishing in the money six time while racing on all surfaces at four different locations. Her best performances have come on the grass hitting the board in 4 of 7 while scoring her only win and today's mile trip has been her most effective distance. Was only beaten 1/2 length in her only other try over the Arlington course in June facing a good allowance field. She is coming off a troubled third, also at a mile on the lawn at Ellis last out. Barn has spotted her well today dropping into a conditioned claiming race while reuniting with Graham who has been aboard for two strong efforts. Good chance to score at a fair price.

9 PRETTY PERSUASION
Despite dropping in class at Ellis last time out this filly missed by a head in a quickly run two turn race on the grass. Scored her maiden win over this course as a 2yo and is more then capable of earning a share today with a repeat of her last.
PADDOCK RACE TWO
#1 WILMINGTON and #2 STAY SEES MOM looked best, others all ok.
BETTING RACE TWO
With 17 minutes to post the betting is orderly in this 5-horse field. #2 STAY SEES MOM is favored at 6-5.
TRIP NOTES RACE ONE
First timer #5 LITTLE NITA was taken right to the front, repelled a weak bid by #4 MARVELOUS MARV on the stretch turn then pulled clear and held on for the win. #3 DOODLE DANDY, also a first timer, was 8th early, moved up between horses on the turn and was flying at the wire. She was in front 3 jumps past the wire. A disappointing effort by the heavily favored 'MARV.
ANALYSIS RACE TWO
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 2

2 STAY SEES MOM
3yo filly has yet to run a bad race for trainer Hugh Robertson, hitting the board in half of her 8 trips to the post including 3 of 5 on the main track here. Returns to main off a good turf effort last out and looks best today with Castanon up now.

6 DUBIOUS
Scored her her maiden win here in June at this mile trip on the main strip by nearly 9 lengths and has turned in solid efforts with allowance company off the claim by Poulos. Contender with Karlsson.
LATE BETTING RACE ONE
First timer #8 BOURBON TRAIL continues to heavily bet. With 5 minutes to post he is down to 4-1.
PADDOCK RACE ONE
#6 TIE SCORE was very fractious in the post parade. The others all looked ok, none exceptional.
BETTING RACE ONE
With 19 minutes to post it is no surprise that #4 MARVELOUS MARV is the 4-5 choice. The 2nd choice on the line was scratched. #8 BOURBON TRAIL, a Terry Gestes first timer, is taking some action at 5-1
ANALYSIS RACE ONE
ANALYSES OF THESE HORSES ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER. THESE ARE NOT MY SELECTIONS.

RACE 1

1 JULIAN LOVE
Heavily bet in his debut, a 3rd place finish in which he dueled for the lead for a half mile. Figures to move forward the 2nd time around for Coty Rosin. Rosin scratched the other part of the entry to go with this colt.

4 MARVELOUS MARVColt is coming off his best yet for trainer Wayne Catalano here 9 days ago showing improved early interest in his second start with blinkers. Fits well today dropping another notch with Alvarado a plus.

9 COLONEL CAMBY
Vanier homebred by Western Playboy finally reaches the races following an extensive preparation. He is bred for a route, but has shown enough speed to be dangerous in his sprint debut. Williamson sends them out fit.
