FINAL TRACK BIAS AND HORSE TO WATCH
The dominant speed bias that was present for the first five races disappeared, partly because the riders were aware of it and pushing their mounts too much early. Overall, you would have to call the track fair.

HORSE TO WATCH

RACE 2:
ROBIN MY GIRL failed to fire in the slop, a race that can be ignored. She was claimed back by Tom Amoss who lost her two starts back. Amoss is deadly with re-claims, so watch for this one on a dry track.

TRIP NOTES RACE TEN
#9 SKEETER JONES trailed the field far back to the stretch turn, found room in the 4-path and kicked down the leader. #6 RODEO MISS pressed the pace 3-wide, won the duel and opened a long lead in mid-stretch. She looked home free until 'JONES came out of the mist to roll by her late. #2 ZOOMIN BAYOU was near the back of the pack to the turn then closed belatedly and would have been 2nd with a couple of more jumps.
PADDOCK RACE TEN
#8 ESS EL YOU is adding front wraps. All of these bottom-level fillies looked ok.
BETTING RACE TEN
A wide open race with three horses sharing favortism at 9-2.
TRIP NOTES RACE NINE
#2 RANDOM MOVES rated just off the leaders in 3rd to the outside, offered his bid on the turn and into the stretch to get a short lead and won going away. #11 HAZARDS OF LOVE pressed the pace all the way, shared the lead a furlong out but could not stay with the winner late. #9 GREYTAP raced off the pace toward the outside, rallied wide in the drive and finished steadily to get third.
ANALYSIS RACE TEN
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 10

2 ZOOMIN BAYOU
Closed belatedly to finish mid-pack, a decent effort after being on the sidelines for the last 4 1/2 months. She has more tactical speed and is likely to show it this time. Snug fit in a tough race.

3 LADY MCBEE
Moved into contention with a wide move on the turn and sustained it to get 3rd money. She ran several big races during the summer and could be rounding back into form. Big rider upgrade to P Val.

6 RODEO MISS
Scored a game win over "two lifetime" company on Nov. 29 then failed to fire when well bet at this level. Like her chances to rebound and she has shown that she handles a wet track. With the leaders all the way.

12 DIALECT
Edged for the show after pressing the pace all the way. Gets weight off with the rider switch from Sellers to apprentice Melancon. Won here last season and runs well in the slop. Can stalk from the outside.
PADDOCK RACE NINE
#1 TONTO FONTENOT was very fractious in the walking ring, dropping Shane Sellers. He looked ok in the post parade though. #2 RANDOM MOVE is on edge for Stidham.
BETTING RACE NINE
Early betting is orderly with nothing unusual.
TRIP NOTES RACE EIGHT
#1 CAJUN CONFERENCE and #2 FLAWLESS GOLD drew 4-5 lengths clear of the field with a suicide opening quarter in :22 flat. They both expired in the drive. #4 ANYTHING BUT QUIET rated behind the leaders toward the inside, angled to the rail for the drive and prevailed in a driving finish with #5 YARE. YARE rated behind the dueling leaders to the outside of the winner, came wide for the drive but was 2nd best. Billy Patin's ground-saving ride on the winner was the difference.
ANALYSIS RACE NINE
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 9 (OFF TURF)

1 TONTO FONTENOT
With a sprint under his belt this gelding finished an even mid-pack when stretched out. He should handle the turf and has already shown his ability on a wet track. Figures to take another step forward.

2 RANDOM MOVE
Son of Empire Maker looked good chasing a runaway winner home in his only try on the grass. He also earned a good figure when finishing 3rd in an "off the turfer" run in the slop. The winner of that race came back to beat a strong allowance field in his next start. This time Mike Stidham drops him into a maiden claimer where he holds a clear class advantage. With rain in the forecast he is a solid choice on either turf or dirt. Versatile colt closed from off the pace two starts back then showed his versatility by contesting a slow pace last time.

3 GROUNDWORK
Closed strongly for fourth against this kind in a one-turn mile last out. Shows three strong drills for McGee since shipping south from Kentucky. Certainly capable of better the third time out.

5 MAX ME OUT
Missed by less than a length after pressing the leader all the way in the slop. Enters off a bullet half mile breeze, so better is quite likely. The switch to Albarado doesn’t hurt either.
PADDOCK RACE EIGHT
All of these mares look ok, but #1 CAJUN CONFERENCE looks really sharp.
BETTING RACE EIGHT
Morning line 2nd choice #8 SAX APPEAL is the even-money choice with 17 minutes to post.
TRIP NOTES RACE SEVEN
#9 GOALTOGOAL pressed the hot early pace on the outside of a three-horse spread. He shook off the other pacesetters and held off #6 NORTHERN PRINCE although he carried that rival out badly in deep stretch. 'PRINCE rated in 5th, came 4-wide on the turn to attack the leaders and came up short. 'PRINCE was rightly awarded the win on a DQ.
ANALYSIS RACE EIGHT
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 8

1 CAJUN CONFERENCE
Ran well setting a pressured fast pace between horses in the LA Ladies Sprint. She held gamely to get 2nd, refusing to be passed late. She blasted an allowance field in fast time two starts back. 4yo filly is even tougher if the track is wet.

7 FOXY FLYER
Closed way too late for 4th, a nice try despite a very weak ride from Dugas. 5yo mare may have needed the race and will be reunited with P Val who won on her in June. Big win in the slop two starts back.

8 SAX APPEAL
Freshened by Asmussen after she failed to fire as the favorite on Aug. 1. 5yo mare can win off the layoff. She won this race two years ago and finished 3rd last year. Asmussen is at his best in these Bayou-bred stakes.
PADDOCK RACE SEVEN
The favorite #6 NORTHERN PRINCE is adding front wraps but he looks ok. #1 A SIMPLE KIND OF MAN looks on his toes.
BETTING RACE SEVEN
There has been early betting action on both #7 KEEFER, bet from 12-1 down to 7-2, and #7 GOALTOGOAL who has been bet from 10-1 to 4-1.
TRIP NOTES RACE SIX
P Val busted #7 LEE CITY SLEW into the lead with a :21 4/5 opening quarter hoping to ride the bias. He was pressured by #2 JOHN CHARLES. #4 POWER SURGE rated off the pace, found room to rally between horses and outfinished the other closer #1 MR. PORTER. 'PORTER trailed the field, came widest of all into the stretch while moving with the winner. Finished a solid 2nd. 'SLEW held on to finish 3rd.
ANALYSIS RACE SEVEN
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 7

4 PERFECT EASTER
Earned a big figure when he finished 2nd to a runaway winner two starts back. He finished evenly for 3rd in an "off the turf" event last out. A fast recent half-mile breeze bodes well for a sharp performance.

6 NORTHERN PRINCE
Rallied late along the rail to get up for 2nd behind next-out repeat winner Caspian. That was his first since June, so better is expected. He has now finished 2nd in 6 of his last 7 starts. Only win was in Nov 2008.

9 GOALTOGOAL
Chicago shipper missed by just a head in a similar spot despite a slow start. The race was strengthened when the winner came back to win again at the next allowance level. Bred to enjoy an off track.
PADDOCK RACE SIX
All of these look good. #7 LEE CITY SLEW will be riding the speed bias.
BETTING RACE SIX
#7 LEE CITY SLEW is being well bet as the 9-5 co-favorite.
MID-DAY TRACK BIAS REPORT
There is a very strong speed-favoring bias. Every one of the first five winners was on the lead after a quarter mile. There is no path bias.
TRIP NOTES RACE FIVE
Another gate to wire runaway winner. #4 GENIESTHREEWISHES opened a clear lead early and was long gone in the slop. #5 AUNT KAT KAT was rallying in mid-pack on the turn when she sawed off P Val who was on the rail with #1 U BELONG TO ME. The stewards DQ'd 'KAT to 4th.
ANALYSIS RACE SIX
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 6

1 MR. PORTER
Won this race last year and is rounding to form for Tom Amoss. He finished 4th behind two of these in the LA Sprint. He was further back than he prefers early and will be reunited with Graham who rode him to the win in last year's Jackson.

2 JOHN CHARLES
Returned from five months off to beat an open allowance field in the mud last time. This restricted stakes is only a small step up in class. This 6yo has won 4 of his 5 starts on wet tracks. Cisco Torres up.

4 POWER SURGE
Was unable to use his tactical speed after he was bumped off stride at the start of the LA Sprint. 6yo used a :23 4/5 final quarter to get up for 3rd. Good shot at the win at what could be a square price. Also loves a wet track.

5 CUSH
5yo has won 5 of his 8 starts over this course and went on a 3-race winning binge last winter. This will be his first start since June, but he is working lights out and won off a similar layoff last year. Was not badly beaten in a graded stakes at Oaklawn in April.
PADDOCK RACE FIVE
Like the looks of #4 GENIESTHREEWISHES but all of these fillies look good.
BETTING RACE FIVE
The betting on this race is orderly with #7 OH WHATA HOLIDAY favored at 7-5 with 18 min. to post.
TRIP NOTES RACE FOUR
#3 ALCAZAR broke in motion to take the lead, but was overtaken by #5 ROLL ME AWAY by the end of the first quarter. ROLL ME AWAY immediately drew off to a long lead and was never menaced. ALCAZAR was overtaken late by #8 HEY MACK who picked up the pieces to finish a distant 2nd.
ANALYSIS RACE FIVE
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 5

4 GENIESTHREEWISHES
Blasted maiden claimers in her sloppy track debut then could not quite hold on when tried in a soft stakes. She is the speed of the field, so look for Sellers to have her winging on a clear early lead.

7 OH WHATA HOLIDAY
Harlan's Holiday filly won her debut then ran too good to lose against allowance company. While racing on a sloppy track she missed by a half-length in a race that was blazing fast at every call. Her connections tried her in a stakes on Champions Day and she did well to get 4th behind a freak out winner. Promising filly enters this contest off a best-of-38 half mile breeze. Has the versatility to either stalk the pace or close from behind. Switches to Albarado.

8 LEE CITY
Back where she belongs after being tried in the LA Lassie in her first start against winners. Despite a wide trip she was not far behind Oh Whata Holiday. Will be picking them off down the lane.
PADDOCK RACE FOUR
#8 HEY MACK adds the front wraps that he wore in his debut. First timer #6 SMITTY'S MOONSHINE looks good as does #5 ROLL ME AWAY.
BETTING RACE FOUR
#6 SMITTY'S MOONSHINE has been bet from 6-1 down to the 2-1 favorite with 18 min. to post.
TRIP NOTES RACE THREE
#3 ROYAL EXPRESS was taken right to the front by Graham, set a strong pace and edged clear in deep stretch. #4 MAGIC MAX pressed the leader from the outside, offered his bid at the top of the stretch but could not get by. #2 MILES HEIR had a rail trip all the way, stalking the two leaders. He was able to save the show in the drive.
ANALYSIS RACE FOUR
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 4 (OFF TURF)

1 TAFFY’S TROUBLE
First time starter by Leestown is a half-brother to three turf winners. His works are not outstanding, but Michelle Lovell excels with 1st timers. Jock Graham has won 2 out of 5 for this barn.

3 ALCAZAR
Showed nothing in his Delta Downs debut then came to life with a big race at long odds in an "off the turf" event. He set a pressured pace and held well for 4th. Look for another solid effort on dirt or turf.

5 ROLL ME AWAY
Faded in a two turner then finished as the 3rd nose on the wire against this kind going 6F. He covered the final furlong in an excellent :12 1/5. Has some turf in his bloodlines, so he is dangerous on either surface.

9 ETHANHAUL
Finished steadily for 3rd behind the heavy favorite in his debut. That race was originally carded for the turf. Certainly eligible to improve with a race over the track.
PADDOCK RACE THREE
#1 INSTANT MESSAGE is adding four wraps. #5 BRAVO WHISKEY is on his toes and looks ready.
BETTING RACE THREE
The 3rd choice on the line, #5 BRAVO WHISKEY, is favored at 8-5. Line favorite #6 NORTH OF ALASKA, is cold on the board at 5-1 with 13 minutes to post.
TRIP REPORT RACE TWO
#4 HOLLYE LYNNE shot right to the front and was allowed to set a controlled pace. She put away her pace rivals and had plenty to hold off the closer #6 PISCES POEM. 'POEM trailed early, looped the field with a 5-wide move on the turn and was slowly cutting into the winner's margin at the wire.
ANALYSIS RACE THREE
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 3

4 MAGIC MAX
Was awarded his maiden win on a DQ two starts back, a very highly rated race. Overmatched in a two turn stakes at Remington in his first against winners. Has a good work over the track for Asmussen.

5 BRAVO WHISKEY
Smart Strike colt was a most impressive debut winner despite being dismissed at 11-1. Rated in mid-pack, he then exploded to the lead and drew off powerfully in the lane. He handled the sloppy track like a seasoned professional. Neil Howard is excellent with developing 3yo. This one will eventually want a route of ground.

6 NORTH OF ALASKANorthern Afleet colt won his debut in a stylish manner then came back to finish 4th in the Sugar Bowl Stakes. Could show us his best yet the 3rd time out. Has a bright future for top trainer Autrey. Has trained well on an off track.
PADDOCK RACE TWO
#4 HOLLYE LYNNE adds the front wraps that were removed for her last three starts.
EARLY BETTING RACE TWO
#3 LUCKY LOU has been bet from 8-1 down to the 5-2 second choice with 15 min. to oost #5 ROBYN MY GIRL is the 2-1 choice.
TRIP REPORT RACE ONE
#1 BETTY LOU made the pace in hand, was looked in the eye by #7 AUTO BE A BEAR at the 3/16 pole and there was contact between them. 'LOU was able to edge away near the wire. After a steward's inquiry there was no change. The others were never in it.
ANALYSIS RACE TWO
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 2

2 GOLDEN SENSATION
Lost some of her punch but still finished a close 4th in a race that she clearly needed. She had been off the track since being claimed by Autrey last February. Very likely to move forward with that one behind her.

5 ROBIN MY GIRL
Claimed from Amoss by Bourgeois following a sharp 2nd place finish as the heavy favorite. 4yo filly won 4 of her 13 starts during 2009. Bourgeois wins with 28% of his last out claims while showing a flat bet profit.

6 PISCES POEM
6yo mare has not won in quite a while but hit the board in her last 7 main track sprints. She was flying at the wire but found the 5 furlong distance to be too short last time out. Will be rolling in the lane once again.
PADDOCK RACE ONE
#2 ALL BETTER NOW is adding front wraps. #7 AUTO BE A BEAR looks sharp.
TRACK CONDITION UPDATE
The main track is now labeled as muddy.
EARLY BETTING RACE ONE
With 18 minutes to first post #1 BETTY LOU is the overwhelming 1-9 favorite. She has about 90% of the money in the win pool.
ANALYSIS RACE ONE
ANALYSES OF THESE CONTENDERS ARE PLACED IN POST POSITION ORDER:

RACE 1

1 BETTY LOU
Gray Holy Bull filly has been consistently giving up late leads but draws a field that she should beat. Her speed is better suited to natural dirt, although she has handled both turf and poly. Should be able to wire this weak field.

3 MY AUNTIE CAMILLE
Missed by less than a length after fighting it out all the way on the pace. This will be her 2nd try around two turns and her 3rd start off the long layoff. Figures to be stalking Betty Lou.

7 AUTO BE A BEAR
Gets a good figure once again after finishing in-the-money in all six of her starts. She finished well for the place when trying two turns for the first time last out. Will be reunited with P Val.
